It's OK Feb 2007tesschris2.JPG (59546 bytes)
Well here it is, the first song, we had to rush it a bit as I need to send it off to the second local Decibells CD. So here is the downloadable audio: (low quality) (click)

Lyrics for interest sake!

It’s OK:
Catch a shooting star take a hop and see if it gets you through another day
Some people are powering down the street other are light upon their feet but not you today
Chorus:
It’s Ok, it’s Ok, it’s Ok, That’s all that you need to say, need to say, need to say
Bridge1:
When you’ve got a bit of trouble, it’s learning not a curse
Always remember things could always be worse
Chorus:
Verse2:
Everything happens for a reason that’s what some people say but it can be tricky to say the least,
Watching people do what you want to do all day
 Chorus:
 Bridge2:
Some people say what you say is what you are But if you say it’s Ok you can go pretty far
Chorus:
Verse3:
Sometimes you’ve got to make your own rainbow on a rainy day
Go through bad days saying it’s OK, and the pot of gold won’t be far away
 Chorus:  X3

News Feb 2007tesschris1.JPG (70808 bytes)
I am very excited, some good things have happened after I broke my ankle, hmmmmm!!!! I got all inspired and have written my FIRST song, yep, I really have. There is going to be another local Decibells CD so we are currently recording the song 'It's OK' so it can go on the Decibells CD. Thanks heaps to Ross Kalla for the 'brill' bass playing, Annie Price and Charlotte Guthrie for the back up vocals and to Chris Ainsworth and Mark Rachelle for recording and mixing, it's a tricky thing but they make it sound really good. Thanks again. I'll up-load it for listening as soon as it's ready to go. See Ya.

Carols By the Bay Dec 2006tessgeelongcarols2006.JPG (70726 bytes)
I broke my ankle at school on Wednesday and had to have it re-set on Thursday, (thanks Tracey at the Geelong Hospital), I hobbled on to the stage down at the bay with Denis Walter and did my thing, it was a bit tricky but great to see everyone there, from the stage the huge crowd went all the way up the hill!! It was my first time singingtesssurfaid1.JPG (60612 bytes) 'Amazing Grace', so I was a bit nervous but it went OK, and Mum said it sounded good!! Hmmmm!!!! never too sure. Thanks, see ya, Tess.

Daryl McKenzie Big Band Sept 2006
And what a big band it is, thanks to Barry and Daryl I had the chance to do a couple of songs with a VERY big band, 18 players and little ole' me! Must say it was  a bit scary but great at the same time, Apartment 401 is a really nice venue in the city and the atmosphere was great. We got some pictures but they all turned out blurry, must have had the camera settings all wrong! The link below will take yo to Daryl's web site.

Girls, Girls, Girls Show  July 2006 Debwendyniki.jpg (100706 bytes)
Wow, wee! On Saturday night I had the opportunity to do a support spot for Debra Byrne, Wendy Stapleton and Nikki Nicholls at the Waterfront Cafe' with the Girls, Girls, Girls show, and it was great, they are the most professionalDebwendyniki1.jpg (95744 bytes) performers ever, just amazing and wow what a show. I had a blast thanks to Acorn Productions and Michael Ward.

There are some really bad recordings of the night but you'll  get the idea, the first one is a song called Wade in the Water and the second is when Debra Byrne asked me up on stage to say hello.

Soul Sisters  July 2006 tesssoulsister2.jpg (50776 bytes)
I had a great time at Elle's 40th birthday party, (thanks Brian) The Souls Sisters of Swing were playing and they let me sing a couple of songs with the band, it was great to play with a band for a change, the sound was really good and we all had a ball at the 'Moulan Rouge' party.

RipCurl Pro  April 2006 rippro20063.jpg (67259 bytes)

Thanks heaps to the sound guys who made me sound alot better than I felt on the day.

Deci-Bells CD  March 2006

We did a recording that ended up on a local Deci-Bells CD, they had a CD launch in Torquay and the whole event was fantastic, Eve and Raff from GekkoPro did  a great job putting it all together, there were 23 performers and a huge crowd. Click the pic for their web site.

Live Show #1  Feb 2006

Hi, guess what! I have my very first (proper) live show happening where I am being hired to perform, I am very excited and hope to see you there. It's at the Barwon Heads Festival, Saturday the 18th of March, I am practising hard and learning a whole bunch of new song for it; should be great fun. Bye.

What's New  Nov 2005

Hi again, if you'd like to hear a demo of 'Little Miss Buttercup' (lyrics) that we did at a local Torquay studio, (click here), let me know what you think. Bye now.(music at stewartguthrie dot com)

What's New  Oct 2005

Junior Australian Idol, hey what can I say, I had a blast. The list goes on and on of what I learnt and who I met, it was great fun, thanks to everyone involved.

The first step was to enter a video of a song, so we did it at the Rip Curl shop (thanks Cherie) and sent it in. I soon forgot about the whole thing because I didn't think I had any chance but then I got a call saying come to Melbourne for the Victorian Final. Wow!! I was really happy about that and pretty nervous! Just to be in the top 20 in Victoria was really cool.

The 'Sing off' was on a Saturday and they chose 3 of us to go to Sydney, I couldn't believe they thought I was good enough to do something like that.

Sydney was really hard with all the other kids who were amazing performers, we stayed at a hotel and did the singing at the Miranda Shopping Centre, just to be involved was great, congratulations to Ryan Lecki, (from WA) who won the competition and we will see him again on the Australian Idol Final show at the Sydney Opera House. If anything else mind blowing happens I'll let you know.

Location and studio shots from Blue Heelers Episode 486 Screening 31st Aug 2005

----------------------------------------------------------

I do lots of singing and rehearse with Max and Iggy every Saturday so we can do some shows around Torquay and Geelong soon. (hope to see you there). My singing teacher is Kelly and she's like my big sister and sings in lots of places and has for years and years, she teaches me Jazzy Blues stuff which is what I like, I'm not into 'pussy pop rock' like what you hear on the radio, I like to sing stuff like Eva Cassidy, Janis Joplin, Elvis, Anastasia and Frank Sinatra, not so cool when your only 11 years old but I like it so there you go!

I do acting classes because it helps me with performing in front of people,SASpic.jpg (15210 bytes)Click here to go to a web page at Screen Actors in Geelong, Vic. (CLICK) I go to class there and they are really good, my teacher is Paul and he's really cool!

I try and perform as much as possible we have a local 'Open mic' night which I go too, but sometimes it's on too late at night!

I usually get a turn at supporting local bands when they do their big shows and that's great fun, I have sung at the local school fete's, Anglesea and Torquay Live, Carols by Candlelight (Torquay 2004) and lots of pubs and parties. Oh yea I forgot, I sing alot in the kitchen and Mum and Dad get annoyed after about an hour!!

If you click the link thingee below you can send my Dad an email and then I can give you a call. See Ya . Tess    (music at stewartguthrie dot com)

ADAM BEATTIE on BLUE HEELERS

by sue also shooting this week on BLUE HEELERS is Adam Beattie from the Geelong Studio. His Guest Lead role is for 'Bradley Moss' who is a 10yr old, on first impressions a know-it-all little trouble maker. But his prickly exterior hides a soft heart.
